Celexa Side Effects

Although the popular antidepressant medication Celexa (also known generically as citalopram) is supposed to help relieve symptoms of depressive disorders in adults, it has been associated with severe and life-threatening birth defects if taken during pregnancy. Celexa side effects can cause severe health problems, particularly with pregnant mothers and unborn children. Mothers who have unwittingly exposed their unborn children to this drug may risk having a baby with a heart defect, neural tube defects, PPHN, club foot defects and other extremely serious life-changing birth defects. The drug has also been reported to cause serious or fatal heart conditions because of the abnormal heart rhythms that it sometimes triggers.

Did you experience health problems or was your child born with a congenital heart defect or craniosynostosis after you had taken Celexa as prescribed? Devereaux, Stokes, Fernandez & Leonard, P.C., in St. Louis, encourages you to discuss your concerns with an experienced pharmaceutical litigation attorney. Our law firm has helped many people recover compensation from drug manufacturers and health care providers after they suffered harm from taking dangerous and defective drugs.

  • Did your doctor or pharmacist fail to warn you of the risks associated with Celexa?
  • Did your doctor condone “off-label” use of Celexa, such as treatment of pediatric depression? In fact, Celexa is one of various selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that has been linked to increased risk of suicide in children and young teenagers.
  • Did the manufacturer fail to warn you by way of a black box or otherwise of potential dangers of this medication? You may have a viable product liability claim against that manufacturer.
